As The Shark began walking toward the central tactical console, Aschenbrenner suddenly went rigid. His hands slapped frantically across his suit pockets before patting down the inner linings with mounting, blood-draining horror.

"Shark," Aschenbrenner choked out, his face turning the color of wet ash. "My phone. My custom encrypted satellite phone. It slipped out of my pocket when we scrambled out of the monster truck cab back on Seventh Avenue."

Character · The Intelligence Asset
Leopold Aschenbrenner

His Situational Awareness fund is dead. His AGI thesis is alive. And his encrypted satellite phone — containing the complete roadmap to cornering the global power grid for the coming superintelligence — is loose on Seventh Avenue.

The Shark stopped in his tracks, turning slowly. His eyes narrowed into lethal, calculating slits. "Tell me you didn't leave your entire AGI cluster roadmap, wallet keys, and cryptographic backdoor access codes sitting unencrypted on a standard flash partition, Leopold."

"It’s not standard!" Aschenbrenner stammered, sweating profusely under the harsh overhead fluorescent lights. "It has the entire blueprint for our power-grid acquisition network! If the feds or forensic cyber teams tear that monster truck chassis apart, they’ll trace our core nodes straight to World Trade Factory within twenty minutes!"

Through the secure bunker comms, N.V. Diya’s synthesized voice cut sharply across the terminal speakers. "Confirmed threat advisory," Diya stated crisply. "Forensic units and an NYPD heavy tow truck have secured the perimeter around the abandoned monster truck. They are hooking up to the front axle right now. You have precisely four minutes before that device reaches a municipal impound and they plug a forensic extraction rig into the cabin."

"We can't let it reach the impound," Aschenbrenner panicked, gripping his hair.

"We won't," The Shark said coldly, tapping his encrypted comms link. "I’m calling in the Valkyrie."

Mia Sheng

She drops out of cloud decks at zero notice, ignores military radar lock, and lifts ten-ton monster trucks off Manhattan intersections with surgical turbine precision. The only person The Shark trusts at altitude.

Operating from her high-performance aircraft, Mia Sheng dropped out of the low-hanging cloud deck over Manhattan, piloting her custom-rigged HX50 helicopter with ruthless precision.

Monster Jam Over Mega-Yacht Hudson River

As a military tactical helicopter swept in from the East River to lock down the airspace, Mia executed a hairpin bank, using a bank of skyscrapers to break radar lock and slip directly into the urban canyon of Seventh Avenue.

Below, a massive municipal tow truck had just hoisted the monster truck's front wheels off the asphalt and was beginning to haul the heavy rig away. Mia dropped the HX50 into a dead hover right above the intersection, ignoring the shouting police officers and the distant warning shouts of the military chopper pilots.

"Hold on to your hats!" Mia’s voice crackled over the secure tactical channel. "We're going fishing!"

She dropped a high-tensile recovery cable with a magnetic grappling hook straight down from her belly winch. With surgical accuracy, the hook locked onto the monster truck's reinforced roof cage. But as Mia hauled back on the collective to lift the monster truck into the sky, the cable whipped violently in the rotor wash—and accidentally snagged the heavy steel towing boom of the NYPD tow truck below!

The result was cataclysmic. Mia’s powerful turbine engines screamed at maximum torque, lifting not only the ten-ton monster truck off the pavement, but accidentally hoisting the massive tow truck right off its rear tires as well. The tow truck dangled vertically into the air like a child's toy, suspended by the entangled cable between the street and the hovering helicopter.

Pandemonium erupted on the ground as police officers scrambled for cover from raining glass and snapping metal. Realizing the extra weight was destabilizing her flight envelope, Mia didn't hesitate.

She triggered the winch's emergency shear-bolt explosive release. With a sharp CRACK, the cable severed cleanly from the tow truck end. Freed of the extra dead weight, the dangling tow truck plummeted back down to the asphalt, crashing sideways across the street in a massive explosion of sparks, shattered glass, and twisted chrome.

Hudson River Bulkhead • The Final Clean-Up

While the military chopper and ground forces were utterly disoriented by the tumbling tow truck, Mia flew the suspended monster truck low and fast toward the West Side waterfront, trailing it like a heavy pendulum over the empty concrete piers.

As they crossed the abandoned pier edge, Mia hovered the monster truck five feet above the deck, keeping the cabin dangling precariously. The Shark, who had intercepted Mia’s coordinates in a secondary extraction van, scrambled out onto the pier. Dodging the fierce rotor wash, he sprinted right beneath the swaying chassis of the monster truck, wrenched open the driver-side door, and plunged his hand into the footwell—his fingers brushing against the cold, metallic casing of Leopold’s lost satellite phone.

He snatched it up just as the military chopper broke through the skyline behind them, its searchlight blindingly bright.

"Got it!" The Shark shouted into his comms, rolling clear of the landing zone.

"Catch!" Mia yelled back.

With a flick of her cockpit switches, Mia unhooked the master winch cable. The ten-ton monster truck plummeted through the open air of the pier edge and crashed straight down into the deep, freezing waters of the Hudson River.

It vanished beneath the surface in a massive pillar of foam and spray, taking every trace of its sensitive AGI hardware and forensic data to the riverbed, entirely beyond recovery.

Mia banked her HX50 hard over the water, diving into the low-altitude fog bank alongside the New Jersey shoreline, completely slipping away from the military pursuit.

Inside the safehouse bay minutes later, Leopold Aschenbrenner stared in stunned awe as The Shark tossed the recovered satellite phone onto the steel table, completely undamaged. The whole ordeal—the mega-yacht bachelorette party, the underground poker brawl, the frantic New York stunt chase, and the breathtaking aerial salvage—had pushed their margins to the absolute edge.

"Well, Leopold," The Shark said smoothly, adjusting his gold cufflinks with icy composure. "The board is clear. Shall we build the cluster?"

Aschenbrenner grinned, picking up his phone. "Let's burn the old world down."
